While browsing the web for beer news, I came upon a post on A Blog About Beer that pointed out that we are just a few short weeks from the end of a decade. The very first decade of the 21st Centurey to be exact. A decade that has witnessed a lot of change in all aspects of our lives including changes in the way beer is precived by many. Beer is slowly but surely becoming more than an alchohol delivery device and there are many breweries putting out some fine libations that we have to thank for that change in preception.
Paste magizine has complied their list of the Top 25 American Breweries of the Decade, and I have to say it is a pretty good one. Of course as of the time of this writing, only 3 of those 25 are available within the Mountain State, but many of us have been enjoying theese brews for a while either by crossing over to neighboring states or picking them up while traveling elsewhere. There are several that I personally have not had the pleasure of trying yet, but hopefully it won't be another 10 years before I do get to taste them.
So, without further adue, here is the list.
- Great Divide Brewing Company
- Sierra Nevada Brewing Company
- Brooklyn Brewery
- Brewery Ommegang
- North Coast Brewing Co.
- Stone Brewing Co
- Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales
- New Belgium Brewing Company

(Make sure you read the original artical to see why they chose each brewery, and some facts about each one.)
