Well, Brewfest 2010 has came and went and personally I had a fantastic time. The Beer was pretty freaking awesome, the music was great, and all in all it was a really good time. We had a total of over 66 beers including over 20 that were made right here in WV. All of the WV Brewries were very well received and got a great response from the crowd. Attendance was light on Friday, possibly due to the fact that many people thought this was an outdoor event and the weather was horrible on Friday. But Saturday brought clear skies and bus loads of people.
The Homebrewing Demonstrations presented by Luke Smith and Buddy Hawkins attracted a lot of attention from folks interested in either learning to homebrew or just wanting to learn more about how beer is made. Thanks to Buddy and Luke for making that happen.
Several WVCBAS members volunteered their time to come out and help pour beer and the Star City VFD wanted me to pass on their thanks for helping out, so James, Amanda, Drew, Mike, Buddy, Corey, Jesse, Robin, Becky, Luke, Bill, and Tim: Thank you very much. I hope you all had as good of a time as I did.
I also have to mention that Brewfest would not have been nearly as cool if it were not for the five WV Breweries that were represented, not only by having their beer on hand, but by also having Brewers and Assistant Brewers and other employees on hand to educated the people about the beer. So, in no particular order thanks to Aaron from Mountaineer Brewing Co., Evan from Mountain State Brewing Company, Nate and Ken from Bridge Brew Works, Chris and Zack from North End Tavern, and Brian, Shelly, and Tony from Morgantown Brewing Co..
In addition to the WV Beers that we had, there were many fine brews that were brought in from area wholesalers who deserve a thank you too.
It was good to see John from Mid-Atlantic Brewing News make the trip over. We got a great photo of All the WV Brewers that were on hand, along with myself and a couple of guys from the Fire Department. I look forward to seeing what he has to say about Brewfest in the next issue of Mid-Atlantic Brewing News.
Last, and certainly not least, I would like to thank the Start City VFD for organizing this whole shindig. They did a fantastic job and raised a good bit of money to help fund their operations.
See you at Brewfest 2011!
